About the Forum
The Contra Costa Watershed Forum (Forum) is an open committee of some fifty organizations, including state and local agencies, local nonprofit environmental and education organizations, community volunteer groups, and members of the public. This collaboration is premised on the notion that actions in a watershed are interrelated, and therefore, broad participation and cooperation is needed to affect change. Members of the Forum work together to find common approaches to making our water resources healthy, functional, attractive, and safe community assets.
The Forum impacts the community, environment, and decision makers in Contra Costa County. Concerned with urban, suburban, and rural areas in the San Francisco Bay Delta region, the Forum facilitates local agency and community collaboration, fosters innovative strategies for stewardship and protection of watershed resources, and encourages regional capacity building in Contra Costa County and neighboring areas.
There are many ways you can help improve the health of creeks and watersheds. You are invited to participate in the Forum by attending meetings, participating in planning efforts, and attending events. In the past, the Forum has coordinated programs to perform volunteer creek monitoring, to install creek signage, and to hold regional symposia every four years. The quadrennial Contra Costa County Creek and Watershed Symposia bring together people who are interested in creek and watershed health to share information, problem solve, and network. The events feature well-known speakers and highly-respected panelists to delve into specific topics. The Symposia draw local groups, community members, and representatives from the public and private sectors.
You can find information about the previous two Symposia (2023 and 2019) by selecting “Past Events” at the top of this web page and then selecting “Past Symposia.”
The Forum meets every other month on Zoom (unless otherwise noted in the calendar below). 2024 Forum Meetings will take place from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on the following dates: January 10, March 14, May 29 (field trip), July 10, September 11, and November 13.
